look to build playoff tradition right from the start in
their only year in Class 3A.

47-40 victory.
Class

17-4A It is a four
team race for three playoff spots. Elgin

win Tuesday at Lanier. McCallum (11-3) has the
easiest road left at Lanier and hosts Johnston, both
teams well out of playoff contention.

playoff teams are set. Huntsville, with its
sweeps of Waller and Montgomery, will be the
district champion, receives the first round bye and
can make a deep run in Region III to try to follow
up their regional final heartbreaking loss to Ozen a
year ago. Waller with its series sweep of
Montgomery will hold down the second spot and
Montgomery will be the final 18-4A representative.

will be the district champs after defeating Jones
Tuesday to win the district title. Jones (9-2) is in
the playoffs as the district runner-up. The
battle for third place clears up Friday as Furr

Furr secures the final playoff spot with a victory
as both team have daunting tasks in their finales as
Furr closes with Jones and Sterling versus Wheatley.

should finish the season with an undefeated district
record closing with Davis and Austin as the district
champion. The Lions are a powerhouse in the area
once again and may be the team to beat for the
regional championship. Waltrip (6-4) and
Sharpstown (5-5) have playoffs on their minds with
the Apollos needing to win Friday's showdown to stay
alive for the final spot in the playoffs.
Sharpstown eliminated Reagan on Wednesday.
Davis (6-4) stayed alive with a close win over
Waltrip. Everything is still up for grabs as
Davis split its two games with Waltrip and
Sharpstown with a third place playoff looming on the
horizon. Davis' path gets tougher as its plays
23-2 Yates before closing against possible spoiler
Washington Wednesday.
21-4A Smiley (12-0)
will be the district champions. The Eagles
look to be a powerhouse in Region III and should vie
for the regional championship. Crosby needs a
win in one of its final two games to clinch second.

(24-2) rolls along and is the district champion
after throttling Central (9-3) by 24. The

their second consecutive Region III championship.

place playoff picture as they close at LC-M (6-6)
and host Nederland (6-6) next Tuesday. The Bears
close at PN-G. The Bulldogs host Vidor Friday.
Dayton (7-5) holds down the third playoff spot and
travel to Lumberton Friday before a Tuesday finale
at home against Ozen that could force a playoff for
the final spot. Dayton, Nederland and LC-M
split their season series.

race. The Exporters host Dickinson (6-6) Friday
before heading to La Marque for what could be a
district championship showdown Tuesday. La
Marque travels to Manvel on Friday. The chase
for the final playoff spot between Friendswood (9-3)
and Angleton (7-5) is over as the Mustangs have a
two game lead and the season sweep in hand over the
Wildcats. Friendswood closes with road trips
to Texas City and Santa Fe. Should one of the
two top teams slip up, the tie-breaker has La Marque
sweeping Friendswood and falling to the Exporters
earlier, while Brazosport and Friendswood split
their two meetings.
24-4A Lamar
Consolidated (7-1) leads what is a wide open race
between four teams for three playoff spots.
The Mustangs come into Friday needing a win to
clinch a playoff spot as host Foster before the
showdown with the Ricebirds Tuesday night.

against the Mustangs Tuesday and has the less
difficult closing schedule traveling to Bay City
before hosting Seven Lakes (6-2) Tuesday. The
Spartans face a stern test hosting El Campo (5-3) on
Friday. Lamar Consolidated swept the season
series with Seven Lakes, split with Terry and
has the game up on El Campo and will win the
district title with a wins in its final two games.
Class
5A
15-5A College Park (7-1) and Lufkin (6-2) have
sewn up playoff spots. The Cavaliers swept Lufkin,
so they own the tiebreaker in the race for the district
title. Conroe is third at 5-3 and has locked up a berth
as well. The Woodlands is in fourth at 3-5 and Oak
Ridge is a game back at 2-6. The Highlanders and
War Eagles split their two games, so a tie would force a
tiebreaker between the two teams. The Woodlands
must face College Park and Magnolia to finish the
season, while Oak Ridge plays Conroe and College Park.
16-5A - Klein Collins (9-1) and Klein Forest
(8-1) are atop the standings, and have clinched playoff
positions. The Tigers and Golden Eagles have split
their two meetings, so a tiebreaker would have to settle
the seedings. Tomball (7-2) is in the postseason
as well, but the Cougars still have to face both Klein
Collins and Klein Forest before the end of the season.
Westfield (4-6) is battling Spring (3-6) for the final
berth, with the two teams splitting their two games.
Westfield must face Collins Friday, while Spring is
finished with both district leaders.
17-5A Strake Jesuit (12-1) and Cy-Springs
(10-4) have clinched postseason berths, with the
Crusaders winning the title. Cy-Ridge (9-5) needs one
win to advance, with Langham Creek (7-7) battling
Cy-Falls (6-7) and Cy-Fair (6-7) for the final spot.
The Lobos still must meet Strake Jesuit next Friday,
with Cy-Falls and Cy-Fair squaring off on Tuesday,
eliminating the loser.
18-5A Morton Ranch (11-1), Hastings (10-2),
and Alief Taylor (10-2) will advance to the postseason.
The Mavericks will close the regular season with
Hastings on Friday and Taylor on Tuesday, which should
determine the seedings. Katy Taylor (5-7) is a
game ahead of Elsik (4-8) for fourth place. The
Mustangs and Rams square off on Tuesday to likely
determine the final playoff qualifier
19-5A Eisenhower (12-0) has won the district
title. Nimitz (9-3), Aldine (8-4), and Stratford (8-4)
have clinched playoff berths as well.
20-5A Bellaire (14-0) is the likely district
champion. Chavez (11-2) has sewn up a playoff spot, and
has the tiebreaker edge over Madison (9-4) with a sweep
of their head-to-head matchups. The Marlins need
one win to clinch a spot. Lamar and Westbury are tied
for fourth at 7-6, with the Redskins and Rebels having
split their head-to-head games. Lamar must still
face Bellaire, while Westbury still has Chavez among
their remaining games.
21-5A Kingwood, Humble, and West Brook are
tied for the district lead at 9-3. Atascocita and Port
Arthur Memorial are tied for fourth at 7-5. Key
remaining games include West Brook hosting Memorial on
Friday, with Kingwood at Atascocita and West Brook at
Humble next Tuesday. Those games should determine
the playoff positions.
22-5A Deer Park and La Porte have clinched
postseason berths, and are tied for the lead in 22-5A at
10-1. The Bulldogs host the Deer on Friday, with Deer
Park holding the edge after winning the first game.
North Shore (8-3) needs one win to clinch the third
seed. Dobie and Pasadena Memorial are tied for fourth at
6-5. The Longhorns and Mavericks split their two
meetings, so a tiebreaker would be necessary in the
event of a tie.
23-5A Elkins (14-1), Dulles (12-3),
Hightower (12-3), and Bush (10-5) have locked up the
districts four playoff berths. Elkins can clinch the
title by winning two of their final three games, though
the Knights must face both Bush and Dulles in that
stretch. The Vikings and Hurricanes split their two
district games, so a playoff might be necessary to
determine seeds.
24-5A Galveston Ball (9-1), Clear Brook
(8-2), and Clear Lake (6-3) will advance to the
postseason. The Tors can capture the championship by
winning their last two games, including Clear Brook next
Friday. The Wolverines need a win and one loss by Lake
to wrap up the second seed. Pearland (5-5) has the
edge over Clear Creek (3-6) for fourth, and the Oilers
need a win plus a Wildcat loss to clinch the final spot.
